Long time no Blog...

This last weekend was a weekend-o-cycling! Saturday was a training day on the Olympic Peninsula and Sunday was the first race of the season! I, of course, had a chest cold and was not as strong as I would have hoped, but finished well and am pleased. My favorite thing about cycling this season is I am on a great team with some of the strongest women. They are fantastically athletic and such supportive cheerleaders.

Being a member of this team is a great reminder of how strong and supportive women can be in groups, much different from the groups of women most of us are exposed to in high school and sometimes beyond.

Daily

Besides coffee, I almost always start the day with a piece of scrap paper. Today it was an envelope, the day before the back of a used post-it. I write to-do lists, do sketches, empty my brain of random quotes or segments of an overheard conversation, pleasingly-paired words and what-have-yous.
Today it struck me how these little remnants of the day are almost journal-like, in that they indicate what was/is on my mind, events, plans, and ideas. Maybe I should start keeping them...

Scarf Prog and Holgas

Ok, the scarf is reminding me of some semi-permeable membrane, it has holes (I bound off 5sts, then cast on 5sts the next row), it feels like some cellular structure, like maybe the endoplasmic reticulum or something.

New Beginnings...

This past year was full of new things, new businesses, new lessons, new learning, new friends, and I can only hope that in 2009 I am blessed with as much learning and support as I had in 2008. I have learned that while I might want to take charge and be in control 100% of the time, the reins aren't always in my hands (as in, sometimes the economy steers train), and that is okay. I learned that my favorite color is grey and that hot chocolate before bed helps me sleep nightmare free.

I also discovered my passion for scarves, neck covering makes for overall cozyness. Today I started a new scarf knitted out of wool sock yarn. I plan to make it huge and dye it grey, here's to new beginnings!
